The
Comfort Sound Sessions is my first full production album recorded
'live off the floor' with a few overdubs. The songs reflect
a myriad of influences ranging from hip country/folk songwriter/artists
like John Prine and Gordon Lightfoot to folk/alt-rock artist
Shawn Phillips. My song Good Times & Whiskey was quickly
picked up by The Good Brothers who performed it live for years.
I
had been writing lots of new songs at the time and my first
album project was an evolution of ongoing efforts put forth
by my musical friends Bruce "Fidd" Fiddament and Dave
Dolmer, who made it a smooth, joyful trip. Fidd and I were recording
every week at Dave's 8th Floor and performing live as an acoustic
guitar/vocal duo, so we were really tight. That's me above [top

'81.
Our
rock solid rhythm section featured Mike Kelly [drums] and John
Van Zoomerman [bass guitar]
Mike
and John were bandmates in a hot Toronto group at the time and
both great players
My
pal Bruce Gorrie played soulful sax on This Town and Lucky LeRoux
Other
Toronto based musicians who contributed tracks included the
multi-talented Bruce Naismith who played organ on one song and
fiddle on another. Huge credit here also to Comfort Sound owner
and chief engineer, Doug McClement (pictured top right), who
besides being a masterful engineer/recordist, also happens to
be a great guy. I will always be very grateful to Doug McClement
for The Comfort Sound Sessions. Doug continues to be very successful
with his major mobile recording business in Toronto called LiveWire
Remote Recorders.
"Frank,
you are one of the few survivors in a very tough business and
we truly respect you for that.
Keep making great music. We love it!" - Bruce, Brian
and Larry [The Good Brothers]
